Here are some tips and steps to winterize your pool in our fine state of Connecticut
1. Remove skimmer baskets, wall fittings and ladders from your poolPut all of your pool extras in a safe dry place during the winter months. Make sure all of your hoses are drained.
2. Clean the pool
Skim, vacuum and brush the swimming pool. If the pool has silt or lots of algae, vacuum the pool to waste. You must bypass the filter and vacuum dirt from the floors and walls. This should prevent clogging the filter. If you have a push-pull filter valve or a cartridge type filter, you should cut the pipe coming out of the pump and then reconnect it when you are done. The pool should be as clean and clear as possible before covering. If you have time, run the filter for a day before final shut down.

3. Balance the water pH
About 6 days before closing, adjust your pool chemistry (should have been #1). Your water balance within the ranges below:
- pH: 7.2-7.4
- Alkalinity: 80-120 ppm
